Two blocks of Newark Avenue west of Journal Square hold the largest concentration of Asian Indians anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. The census counted about three thousand Indian residents here in 1980 and just under thirteen thousand by 2000, packed into a stretch of sari shops, groceries, jewellers and restaurants that locals call Little India or Little Bombay. It hosts the largest outdoor Navratri celebration in New Jersey.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
