The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway bought the townsite in 1886 and named it after Charles K. Krum, one of its officials. By 1900 the railroad was hauling at least half a million bushels of wheat out of the place each year, which is where the claim about the inland grain market comes from. The town did not bother to incorporate until 1955.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
