Britton was named twice for railroad men and grew no further
1895
Ellis County, Texas
The post office here opened in 1895 as Hellandville, after a railroad passenger agent named Joseph Helland, and was renamed Britton the next year for a conductor on the same line. The town got one grain elevator, two churches and a store, which was enough to hold farmers to small grain crops for a while. It never incorporated, and the Dallas suburbs have grown out to meet it from three directions.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
