Robert Moses had a cycling track built at Kissena Park in 1962, and it hosted the 1964 Olympic trials while the World's Fair ran a few miles west. Local riders took five of the eight places on the United States team. It is the only velodrome left in New York City. The surrounding park was a commercial tree nursery run by Samuel Parsons in the nineteenth century, which is why some of its trees have no business being in Queens.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
