The Astoria Park pool and three Olympic trials
1936

John Hatton designed the pool and bathhouse for a Works Progress Administration project in 1935 and 1936, on the Hell Gate shore between what are now the Hell Gate and Robert F. Kennedy bridges. The United States Olympic swimming trials were held in it in 1936, in 1952 and again in 1964. The play centre was made a city landmark in 2007.
