East Point built a velodrome after a trip to the Munich Olympics

Residents and city officials came back from the 1972 Munich Olympics wanting a bicycle track, and East Point built one in Sumner Park two years later. The concrete oval runs 322 metres with its turns banked at 36 degrees, steep enough that a rider has to keep moving to stay on it. It is one of about twenty two working velodromes left in the country, and it carries the name of Dick Lane, who ran the city recreation district and sat in the state legislature.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
