Jacinto City is subdivided for war plant workers

Frank Sharp, who would later build Sharpstown and lend his name to a stock fraud scandal that broke the Texas legislature, started cutting this prairie into lots in 1941 under the name Industrial Acres. It filled with shipyard hands and steel and war plant workers who needed to live within reach of the channel. The residents incorporated in the mid 1940s and named the place for the battlefield down the road. Their first mayor, Inch Chandler, ran the grocery.
