Gunbarrel is built to house an IBM plant
1965
Gunbarrel, Boulder County, Colorado

The name comes from an old wagon track cut so straight across the prairie that people said it ran like a gunbarrel. The land stayed in farms until IBM opened a plant across the Diagonal Highway in 1965 and its engineers needed somewhere to live. Subdivisions went up around them, and Gunbarrel still carries a Boulder mailing address without ever having joined the city.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
