Hamnett Place, 77 buildings brought back one at a time

Hamnett Place is a 114 acre grid of Queen Anne and Colonial Revival houses put up when Wilkinsburg was a commuter suburb for men who worked in Pittsburgh. By the 2000s much of it was vacant and condemned. The Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation started buying and restoring structures here in 2004 and improved more than 70 of them within a decade. The district went on the National Register in 2010.
