Old Catonsville, a suburb laid out around the electric railway
1900
Catonsville, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
This almost entirely residential district was platted as the electric railway pushed west out of Baltimore. Its houses run from mid 19th century vernacular I-houses to Queen Anne, Dutch Colonial, Tudor Revival, Craftsman and bungalow work of the early 20th century, most with a detached garage finished to match. An Art Deco water tower and three churches sit inside the boundary.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
