Riverside, the Olmsted suburb where nobody lives on a grid
1869

Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux laid out Riverside in 1869 as one of the first planned suburbs in the United States. They curved every street to follow the Des Plaines River instead of extending the Chicago grid, and left wide public parkways between the lots. The plan covers nearly the whole village, so Riverside's entire population lives inside a National Historic Landmark.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
