George W. Haltom began as a watchmaker regulating railroad clocks and opened his first jewellery store in 1893. He came to own most of the grassland northeast of Fort Worth, and the settlement that grew along the new Belknap highway in the 1930s took his name. The city incorporated in 1949. Haltom's Jewelers stayed in business for more than 130 years.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
