The Halle Brothers Co. was a downtown Cleveland department store name, and in August 1948 it opened a branch out on the Van Sweringens' planned shopping square, betting that the money had moved east with the Rapid. Robert A. Little got the job as his first commission and delivered a flat, glassy International Style box among the square's Georgian brick. It took a Chamber of Commerce award and an Architects' Society of Ohio medal, and it is on the National Register.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
