Goose Creek keeps its name on the schools after the town stops existing
1921
Baytown, Texas
The Goose Creek school district was formed on August 21, 1921, while Goose Creek, Pelly and Baytown were still three separate oilfield towns arguing over which of them had been settled first. The towns merged in 1948 and Goose Creek ceased to be a city, but the district kept the old name and still carries it across more than 20 campuses and roughly 24,000 students. The same board voted in 1934 to start the junior college that became Lee College.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
