Crews blasted the top off Fleming Point and used the rock as fill to flatten enough shoreline for a mile track. It opened on 1 February 1941 and rain washed out the meet after two days. The Navy took the property during the war to store landing craft bound for the Pacific and racing did not resume until 1947. It was the last major thoroughbred track in Northern California after Bay Meadows closed, and its final card ran on 9 June 2024.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
