Glendale City Hall, finished by the WPA in the first year of the war

Glendale demolished its 1912 city hall in 1940 and built a three part replacement on the same block to a design by the local architect Alfred Hansen, with the Works Progress Administration covering part of the cost. The wings opened through 1941 and the centre section followed, and the dedication in June 1942 was folded into a local celebration of General MacArthur. The PWA Moderne front has changed little since.
