First Church of Christ, Scientist, the downtown church that rode out 1933

Elmer Grey designed this Classical Revival church on Elm Avenue in 1913, the first Christian Science congregation in the city. When the 1933 earthquake flattened masonry across downtown it came through largely intact, which is part of why the city landmarked it. Grey also drew the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Pasadena Playhouse.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
