Christ Church, where Washington Irving was a vestryman
1837

An ivy covered red brick church of 1837, early Gothic Revival and modest in scale, which Washington Irving served as a vestryman while living down the road at Sunnyside. That connection is half the reason it went on the National Register in 1987, the architecture being the other half. The congregation is still active and now includes a Spanish language ministry, the San Marcos Mission.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
