Dunwoodie, the seminary of the Archdiocese of New York
1896
Yonkers, New York

Archbishop Michael Corrigan laid the cornerstone on Valentine Hill in 1891 to bring the archdiocese's seminary within reach of the city, and the first academic year opened in September 1896 with 96 seminarians. The buildings are grey granite, most of it quarried on the forty acre site itself. Priests from New York, Brooklyn and Rockville Centre are still trained here.
