Cox College gives College Park its name
1896
College Park, Georgia
Cox College began in 1842 in LaGrange as a seminary for young women and changed its name five times over fifty years. In 1895 the main school moved to a railroad town called Manchester, which liked the arrangement enough to rename itself College Park the following year. The college closed for good in 1934, but the town kept the name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
