Dundalk was built from scratch in 1918 to house shipyard workers

Bethlehem Shipbuilding could not find housing for the workers pouring into Sparrows Point, so in June 1918 the federal Emergency Fleet Corporation took over the company laying out Dundalk and finished the job itself. Architect Edward L. Palmer gave it curving streets, greens and 531 stucco houses on blocks still named for ships. It is one of only two federal shipyard housing projects built in Maryland, and 962 buildings in it now carry a National Register listing.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
