Cross Roads incorporates to fight a landfill and stay out of Denton
Cross Roads, Texas
![]()
The place exists because of water. Lake Dallas was finished in November 1927 and the roads rerouted around it met here, at what is now US 377 and US 380. In April 1973 residents petitioned the county judge to incorporate the land around the crossing, partly to keep Denton from annexing them and partly to oppose an expanding landfill. James Cundall was the first mayor of a town that had 215 people five years later.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
