Bartonville incorporates as the largest town in the county, then dissolves itself
1960
Bartonville, Texas
Settled in 1878 and named for T. Bent Barton, whose family owned the store, the gristmill and the cotton gin, Bartonville voted itself into a town in 1960 to stop the city of Irving annexing it. The borders drawn that day covered nearly thirty square miles, including everything that is now Double Oak and Copper Canyon, which made it the biggest town in Denton County. It disincorporated in 1964, then came back in 1973 as a much smaller town still centred on the Bartonville Store.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
