Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge, the firm that carried on H. H. Richardson's practice, designed this stone station for the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad in 1896. It went up as the railroad pushed commuter service into the towns downriver from Pittsburgh, and it is far grander than the traffic ever justified. Passenger trains stopped calling long ago and the building has been fought over and restored since.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
