Joliet Union Station and the six railroads

Six railroads converged on Joliet, so in 1912 they shared the cost of one Beaux-Arts depot in Bedford limestone, designed by Jarvis Hunt. At its peak it handled more than a hundred intercity trains a day on top of commuter and interurban service. Amtrak and Metra used it until 2014.
