Chaffee, a town the Frisco drew on a map
1905
Chaffee, Scott County, Missouri
The Frisco needed a division point between Cape Girardeau and the Bootheel, so in 1905 it bought farmland and drew a town: shops, a roundhouse, houses for crews, all of it at once and none of it there before. The railroad named it for a company director. When the shops went, most of the reason for the place went with them.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
