Campo de Cahuenga and the treaty that ended the fighting in California

On 13 January 1847 John C. Fremont and Andres Pico signed the Capitulation of Cahuenga at an adobe on this spot at the north end of Cahuenga Pass, ending the fighting of the conquest of California. The terms let Californios keep their property and go home rather than be treated as prisoners. The original adobe is gone. The building standing here was put up in 1950 as a memorial and interpretation centre.
