The Treaty of Bird's Fort is signed on the Trinity
1843
Arlington, Texas
On September 29, 1843 the Republic of Texas signed a peace treaty at Bird's Fort with delegations from ten Native nations, among them the Caddo, Waco, Delaware and Cherokee. Edward Tarrant, whose name Tarrant County still carries, negotiated for the Republic alongside George Terrell. The agreement was meant to end years of raiding and set a line between settlement and Indian country. The fort itself had been abandoned the year before after a Comanche scare.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
