Bronx County Courthouse and the Flynn machine
1934
851 Grand Concourse, the Bronx

A nine storey limestone block finished in 1934, with friezes by Charles Keck and a dedication at which La Guardia moved the seat of city government here for three days. It was the civic centre of Ed Flynn's Bronx, the Democratic organisation he ran from 1922 until his death in 1953 without losing an election. Flynn also managed Roosevelt's campaigns and advised him on how city machines delivered votes.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
