Baltimore's Harbor Field airport is now a container terminal
1941
Dundalk, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
When Logan Field ran out of room, the city built its replacement on a peninsula it made itself, dumping fill into the Patapsco starting in 1929. The seaplane basin came first and the land runways were not finished until 1941. Harbor Field lasted less than twenty years and closed on 30 December 1960, beaten by Friendship Airport out in Anne Arundel County. The made ground is now the Dundalk Marine Terminal, where the port moves its containers and cars.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
