Aurora's West Side, the district the Fox River factories paid for
1986

Ninety eight buildings on the west bank of the Fox River were listed together as a district in 1986, seventy seven of them counted as contributing. These are the houses and churches of the merchants, foremen and clerks who ran Aurora while its silver plate works and railroad shops were going full tilt. The district survives because the money that built it stayed in town instead of moving to Chicago.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
