The Boerum Hill Historic District, 1840s rowhouses under a 1960s name

The houses here are Greek Revival and Italianate brick, three bays and three stories with projecting stoops, built between 1845 and 1890 for a district that carried no particular name. Boerum Hill was coined in the 1960s by a new neighborhood association casting about for an identity, taking it from the Boerum family farm that once covered the ground. The federal historic district was listed in 1983 with 238 contributing buildings and roughly doubled in area in 2018.
