Amelia Island State Park, the one Florida beach you can ride a horse on
1983

The state bought the southern tip of Amelia Island in 1983 under the Save Our Coast programme, which is why the last stretch before Nassau Sound is dune and marsh instead of condominiums. About 200 acres of beach, salt marsh and maritime forest sit between the highway and the ocean. It is the only state park in Florida where you can ride a horse on the sand, on your own animal or one from an outfitter.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
