Amelia Island Light, the oldest lighthouse in Florida

The tower was not built here. It was taken down at the southern end of Cumberland Island in Georgia, carried across the sound and put back up on Amelia Island in 1838, which leaves it the oldest lighthouse still standing in Florida. Fourteen lamps and reflectors lit it at first. A third order Fresnel lens went in during 1903 and is still the working optic, though the light was automated in 1970.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
