Alhambra votes 49 to 9 for a high school

An election on 22 April 1898 created the Alhambra high school district by 49 votes to 9. Classes started that October for twenty three students on the second floor of the Garfield School. The school sits on Second Street across from city hall and its teams are called the Moors.
