Mesa High School, founded in 1898 and moved here after Old Main burned
1898
Mesa, Arizona
Mesa residents petitioned for a high school district in 1898 and the first classes met that September on the upper floor of a red brick elementary school. The district later built a twelve room block known as Old Main, which a fire starting in the science lab gutted on 1 October 1967. Classes carried on at the old campus until 1972, when the school moved onto this site. Its teams, the Jackrabbits, took state titles in basketball in 1917, baseball in 1927 and football in 1928.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
