Actors Theatre and the Humana Festival
1976
Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The state theatre of Kentucky runs a festival each spring that has done more to shape the American stage than its size suggests, new plays first staged here, several of them Pulitzer winners, then sent out to every regional theatre in the country. Producers fly in from both coasts for a long weekend to watch work that has never been seen, in a converted bank on Main Street.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
