Blackfriars, Shakespeare's other playhouse

The world's only recreation of Shakespeare's indoor theatre sits on a side street in Staunton, built to the surviving dimensions in oak, with candlelight chandeliers and no stage lighting at all. The house lights stay up because they did then, so the actors can see you and will talk to you, and some of the audience sits on the stage itself for the price of the discomfort. It has run a full season every year since 2001.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
