Ravinia is a large outdoor amphitheater and lawn venue in Highland Park that hosts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's summer residency alongside touring pop, rock, jazz and classical acts. The 2026 season runs from early June through late September with more than ninety concerts. It has operated since 1904 and is one of the oldest and largest outdoor music festivals in the country.

It started in 1904 as an amusement park built by a railway to give people a reason to ride the line out from Chicago, went bust, and came back as a music park.
Built around 1836 out of hand hewn squared oak logs on a Winnetka farmstead, this two and a half story house is one of the oldest structures on the North Shore.
Perkins, Wheeler and Will designed this elementary school with Eliel and Eero Saarinen and opened it in 1940, shaping the building around progressive teaching instead of rows of desks.
