The Schmidt-Burnham log house, moved twice and still standing
1836
1140 Willow Road, Winnetka

Built around 1836 out of hand hewn squared oak logs on a Winnetka farmstead, this two and a half story house is one of the oldest structures on the North Shore. The Indian Hill Club sold it to the painter Anita Willets-Burnham in 1917 on the condition that she move it off the ninth green, so she hauled it to Tower Road and built an addition. It was moved a second time to Crow Island Woods, where it stands now.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
