The red brick house on Lincoln Avenue is a real family home that has been photographed by strangers at Christmas every year since 1990. Hughes shot across the North Shore constantly and used a different house in nearly every film, but this is the one that stuck. The interiors were built in a decommissioned high school gym nearby, so nobody actually swung a paint can down that staircase. The outside, the street and the park Kevin runs through are all genuinely here.
