Cameron's house in Ferris Bueller's Day Off
1986
Ben Rose House, Highland Park, Illinois

The glass box in the trees that Cameron Frye kicks his father's Ferrari out the back of, in John Hughes's 1986 comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off, is a real modernist house in Highland Park. It is the Ben Rose House, built in 1954, and the glass pavilion standing in the ravine behind it was put up to hold the owner's car collection. Hughes chose it because the architecture makes the point the scene needs: a house you cannot touch anything in, belonging to a father who loves the car more than the boy. The Ferrari was a replica. The window was real.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
