It started in 1904 as an amusement park built by a railway to give people a reason to ride the line out from Chicago, went bust, and came back as a music park. The Chicago Symphony has spent every summer here since 1936, which makes it the oldest outdoor music festival in North America. The tradition is that most of the audience never sees the stage: they book the lawn, bring a table, candles and dinner, and listen.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
