Nine million gallons a day at a constant 85 degrees and one of the highest mineral contents of any spring in the country, which is why it has been sold since the 1940s as a health spa and occasionally as the fountain of youth Ponce de Leon was looking for. Archaeologists have taken Paleo-Indian remains out of its ledges too, which is the more defensible claim to age.
