On 14 November 1960 Leona Tate, Tessie Prevost and Gail Etienne walked into this school behind federal marshals, the same morning Ruby Bridges entered William Frantz across town. White parents pulled their children out within hours, and the three girls finished the year as the only students in the building. The school now holds an interpretive centre named for the three of them.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
