The Ypsilanti Historic District and its four hundred buildings

Ypsilanti Historic District, Ypsilanti, Michigan

The district runs along several blocks on both banks of the Huron River through the middle of Ypsilanti, and holds roughly four hundred contributing structures in two separate commercial cores: Michigan Avenue and the depot area on Cross Street. Michigan designated the original portion a state historic site in 1973 and it was listed nationally in 1978, with further additions listed in 1989. It is the reason a town of this size still reads as a nineteenth century one at street level.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
