The Yerkes primate labs move to Emory, and later lose the Yerkes name

Robert Yerkes set up primate research facilities for Yale and opened laboratories at Orange Park, Florida in 1930. Yale renamed them for him in 1941, Emory took ownership in 1956, and federal money moved the whole operation onto the Atlanta campus by 1965. It is the oldest of the seven national primate research centres. In 2022 Emory dropped Yerkes from the name after a committee reviewed his association with eugenics.
