The National Institutes of Health move out to Bethesda
1938
Bethesda, Maryland
The federal government's medical research agency began in 1887 as a one room hygiene laboratory and moved onto this Bethesda campus in 1938, on land donated for the purpose. It runs its own hospital for research patients and hands out most of the biomedical research money in the country. The campus faces the Navy's medical center across Rockville Pike.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
