The William Hilleary House, the county's only stone gambrel roof
1742
Bladensburg, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Built between 1742 and 1764, this is the only eighteenth century stone house with a gambrel roof in Prince George's County. Richard Henderson, a merchant and land speculator who fought long arguments in the local papers, was among its early owners, and George Washington recorded dining here in May 1787. Highway building later wrapped an exit ramp around two sides of it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
