The Seminole Cafe and Hotel arrived by railcar

This Mission Revival and wood frame building was put up in Miami in the early 1910s as a theatre. In 1916 it was taken apart, loaded onto railcars and hauled south to Homestead, where it was reassembled on South Flagler Avenue. It opened as the Seminole Cafe and Hotel in the 1920s and was renamed the Landmark Hotel in 1965. Hurricane Andrew took off most of the roof and part of the north wall in 1992.
